Next July 12th 2009, an attempt to break Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Saxophone Orchestra will be made as part of FISP '09 programming, being Canada the latest record holder with an orchestra of 900 saxophonists. For the present attempt a piece was written by the prestigious composer Jorge Salgueiro, that will be conducted by himself on this great endeavour.

On this regard it is with great satisfaction that FISP invites all saxophonists interested on participating on this exciting initiative, that will gather musicians from the country and abroad.

The concert is scheduled to happen on July 12th 2009, on Largo S. João, in Palmela, at 5 pm. All participants are required to make an accreditation with the organization on the day of the event.  For that, an earlier attendance of each participant at 1pm will be necessary in the same place of the event.

To formalize the enrollment on the “World’s Largest Saxophone Orchestra” all interested players should send until July 9th their personal information (name, address, ID card number and telephone number or email) through the respective enrollment form available on this site, or alternatively send them by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

At the time of accreditation, each participant should pay an enrollment fee of €5 (Masterclasses participants of the festival are exempt of this payment)

Immediately after the record breaking attempt, a draw will be made amongst all the participants for winning a premium saxophone alto, of CANNONBALL brand.
